Dr. Schwartz is board-certified in plastic surgery by the American Board of Plastic Surgery, licensed and certified in both Texas and California, and trained at four of the most respected medical institutions in the United States. He has emerged as a destination surgeon for patients across the country seeking the highest standard of individual care — not volume, not templated results, but surgery that is genuinely tailored to each person.
With over 10,000 successful procedures and more than fifteen years in aesthetic practice, Dr. Schwartz brings an uncommon combination of technical mastery and artistic judgment to every case. He founded Edition Plastic Surgery on a single conviction: that the most beautiful surgical results are those that require no announcement.
Trained at institutions that define the standard of surgical excellence in the United States — each one selected for what it would demand, not for what it would provide.
Dr. Schwartz began his undergraduate education at Yale University as a physics major — drawn to its discipline, its precision, and its demand for rigorous thinking. But the most compelling force in his life had always been people. By his junior year, he had changed his major to pre-medicine and redirected his focus to neuroscience, following the instinct that would ultimately define his career. He graduated summa cum laude and was awarded a Regents Scholarship for academic excellence at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA.
He then completed his residency in general surgery at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles, where he devoted two additional years to full-time research in plastic surgery — an investment in depth that distinguished his application and led directly to his selection for the plastic surgery residency at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, widely regarded as one of the specialty's premier training programs. It is where he chose to remain, build his practice, and ultimately found Edition Plastic Surgery.
The difference between a good surgical result and an extraordinary one is rarely a matter of technique alone. It is a matter of philosophy.
Dr. Schwartz trained alongside some of the most technically accomplished plastic surgeons in the country. What he took from that training was not only technique — it was the understanding of when to apply it, and when restraint produces a better result than intervention. His outcomes are consistently described as natural precisely because his philosophy prioritizes harmony over alteration.
Every consultation begins with listening. Dr. Schwartz takes time to understand what each patient actually wants — not a templated version of the procedure, but a result tailored to their specific anatomy, their goals, and their life. He will never recommend a procedure that does not serve the patient's genuine interest, and he will always tell the truth about what surgery can and cannot achieve.
With a reoperation rate of less than 1% over twenty-five years, Dr. Schwartz's outcomes reflect an unwavering commitment to evidence-based technique, thorough pre-operative planning, and careful patient selection. Surgery is performed at a fully accredited facility staffed by trusted, board-certified anesthesiologists. Your safety and comfort are not priorities — they are prerequisites.
"The most breathtaking surgical results are those that whisper. They restore without announcing. They return something that was always there."— Dr. Robert Schwartz
